Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bharsar

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bharsar, Pauri Garhwal is the knowledge and resource centre of agricultural technologies for supporting initiatives of public, private and voluntary sector in improving the agricultural economy of the district. It aims at assessment of location specific technology modules in agriculture and allied enterprises, through technology assessment, refinement and demonstrations to maximize production potential on the farmer’s field of Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. KVK, Bharsar, Pauri Garhwal also provides farm advisories using ICT and other media means to solve the issues related to farmers problems. In addition, KVK, Bharsar, Pauri Garhwal also provides critical inputs viz. seeds, planting material,vermicompost, insecticides and pesticides to the farmers.

The scientists at KVK, Pauri Garhwal are relentlessly working along with state line departments, NGOs and other organizations (activities viz. Kisan gosthi, Krishi & Rabi rath, PMFBY, World soil day, Kisan nidhi, Swacchta abhiyan, National nutrition week and Breast feeding week etc.) for providing maximum benefit to the farming community in the Pauri Garhwal district.

The mandate of KVK:

  • Organize short and long term trainings in advanced technologies related to agriculture and allied enterprises for farmers, farm women and rural youth with emphasis on “Learning by doing”.
  •  Trainings of extension personnel of line departments of the Pauri Garhwal district.
  • On-farm testing in farmer’s field for identifying location specific suitable technologies.
  • Organize frontline demonstrations (FLDs) to establish production potential of technologies on the farmer’s fields.
  • Work as Knowledge and Resource Centre for improving overall agricultural economy in the district.
  • Production of quality seeds and planting materials for distribution among the farmers.

Activities of KVK:

Krishi Vigyan Kendra performs its activities as per the mandate suggested by ICAR, New Delhi.

Activities of the KVK are as follows:

  • To organize On and Off campus training programmes for Farmers, Farm Women, Rural Youth, and Extension personnel to make them aware about the latest technologies in agriculture.
  • To organize short and long term vocational training courses
  • To conduct Front Line Demonstrations (FLD) and  On Farm Trials (OFT) at farmer’s fields  on new technologies  and their  refinement
  •  Soil Testing and distribution of Soil Health Card to the farmers

Post harvest technology with value addition of hill crops.
