Director Message

Dr. Arvind Bijalwan is a streamline forester having B.Sc. Forestry (4 yrs); M.Sc. Forestry (Agroforestry) and Ph.D. in Forestry with specialization in Agroforestry. He has occupied All India Rank-3 in JRF and qualified NET examination three times in Forestry, Forestry and Environmental Science.

About 16 years of Teaching, Research, Extension and consultancy experience in Forestry Management, Agroforestry, Silviculture, Remote Sensing and GIS and Natural Resource Management. Prior to present position, Dr. Bijalwan has worked as Assistant Professor (HRD Scale at par of Associate Professor as in IIT/IIM) at Indian Institute of Forest Management, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, Bhopal, MP, India.  Dr Bijalwan has also served as Assistant Professor at College of Forestry & Environment, Allahabad Agricultural Institute-Deemed University, Allahabad, UP, India. He worked as Principal Investigator/Project Coordinator of a special project of Rs. 12.18 crore implemented by MPVS, Gaja for employment generation through cultivation of Medicinal and Aromatic plants for the Western Himalayan community in Tehri Garhwal of Uttarakhand, India. He has handles about half dozens of research and extension Projects with a capacity of PI and Co-PI. In the present University, VCSG Uttarakhand University of Horticulture Forestry Bharsar, Dr. Bijalwan has served as Joint Director Extension and presently also serving as Director, IQAC Cell and Associate Director Extension. Dr. Bijalwan has worked on plantation assessment, monitoring and evaluation w.r.t. survival, quality, growth pattern, influence of microclimate on plant growth in different parts of tropical, sub-tropical and temperate regions of country. He was engaged in analysing and assessing the potential and possibility of various agroforestry and farm forestry systems and combinations and also documented their case studies. Presently he is working on agroforestry management, productivity and assessment of biomass and carbon in agroforestry systems with an integrated theme of livelihood promotion linking Biodiversity (agro-biodiversity), Carbon Sequestration potential in Agroforestry systems connecting to Combating the Climate Change. He has also visited abroad and good exposure of outside India for various agroforestry systems. Dr. Bijalwan is in the Editorial Board of eighteen National and International Journals. He is life member of six scientific and professional societies and also annual and biannual member of nine professional societies. He has also delivered about forty radio talks from All India Radio stations Aakashwani and local radio stations and presented various TV programmes on doordarshan.

Dr. Bijalwan has selected for faculty positions in various State Government Universities and Institutions and also selected for Master’s programme in two prestigious Universities abroad. He has published 63 Research papers, 52 Scientific articles and written 3 books also guided 3 Doctoral and 06 M. Phil and Master Level Students.

Additional Director Message

Dr. Amol Vasishth has vast experience of working in temperate, subtropical and tropical forest regions of the country with specialization in Forest Products & Utilization including non-timber forest products. He had successfully completed his graduation in Forestry and Master of Science and Ph.D.in Forestry with specialization of Forest Products from Dr. Y. S. Parmar University of Horticulture & Forestry, Solan (HP). He has Professional Experience of more than sixteen years of Teaching, Research and Extension. He started his career as Research Associate in Forest Products & Utilization Department, College of Forestry, Dr. Y. S. Parmar University of Horticulture & Forestry, Solan (HP) and afterwards joined as Assistant Professor in Forestry with specialization in Forest Products and Utilization, College of Horticulture and Forestry. Jhalawar, Maharana Partap University of Agriculture & Technology, Udaipur (Rajasthan) in 2007 and in the year 2016 he was selected as Associate Professor (Medicinal and Aromatic plants), College of Forestry, Navsari Agriculture University, Navsari (Gujarat). Whereas in the year 2018 he joined in the same post as Associate Professor Forest Products & Utilization in College of Forestry, Ranichauri and assigned additional charge of Associate Director Research VCSG Uttarakhand University of Horticulture & Forestry, Bharsar – Pauri Garhwal (UK). Presently he is also holding the charge of Nodal officer Mali Training Centre, Partap Nagar and Research and Extension Centre Jakhinda and Officer Incharge Research & Extension Centre, Sealqui.

Dr. Amol Vasishth taught various courses of Forestry in Forest Products & Utilization, Silviculture, Agro Forestry and handled many Research Projects of Indian Council of Agriculture Research, Department of Science Technology, Government of Rajasthan, National Afforestation and Eco development Board, Department of Biotechnology, National Medicinal Plant Board and Rashtriya Kisan Vikas Yojana. He has more than sixty-seven Publications in the form of research and poplar articles, book Chapters and abstracts. He has bagged Best Paper Award from Soil Conservation Society of India and attended International Training on Carbon stock assessment and carbon Finance organized by World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) in Training centre for tropical Resources and Ecosystems Sustainability (TREES) at University of Philippines Los Banos (UPLB) College Laguna Philippines from 8-15 July, 2013 in Philippines. Directorate of Academics

Office of Directorate of Academics is one of the most important office in the University responsible for sustaining quality education in the university. The main objectives of this office are to provide guidelines for development of academic curricula in Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry and allied Sciences with par excellence and to ensure their effective implementations. The Directorate of Academics plans for academic calendar, academic projects academic activities in the University and their constituent colleges and institutions. The office particularly serves for different affairs of Post Graduate programmes of Master’s and Doctorate level and maintains the standard of quality teaching and research. To ensure utmost academic standards for excellence in teaching and learning, Office of Directorate of Academics accomplishes following functions:

  • The Directorate of Academics shall implement the academic programmes of the University, get them approved from the Academic Council and ensure their implementation.
  • The Director Academics shall develop strong linkage in academic issues discussed in Academic Council.
  • The Directorate of Academics shall be headed by Director Academics for functioning academic affairs in the University.
  • The office shall prepare a report of academic programmes of the University.
  • Coordinates with teaching units in all academic matters.
  • Coordinates Faculty Development Programs of the University.
  • Frames and updates semester rules and regulations for the University pertaining to academic departments of the University.
