Dr. Arvind Bijalwan is a streamline forester having B.Sc. Forestry (4 yrs); M.Sc. Forestry (Agroforestry) and Ph.D. in Forestry with specialization in Agroforestry. He has occupied All India Rank-3 in JRF and qualified NET examination in the field of Forestry as well as Environmental Sciences.

Over 22 years of experience in Teaching, Research, Extension and Consultancy in the fields of Forestry, Agroforestry, Silviculture, Remote Sensing & GIS and Natural Resource Management. He is presently serving as Professor of Forestry (Agroforestry) at the College of Forestry, Ranichauri of Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Uttarakhand University of Horticulture and Forestry (VCSG UUHF), Bharsar, Uttarakhand, India. In addition, he is presently holding the posts of Director Academics, Associate Director Extension and Director, IQAC Cell at VCSG UUHF. Dr. Bijalwan has previously served the same university as Dean, College of Forestry; Joint Director Extension; Dean, College of Hill Agriculture and Dean, College of Horticulture. He has also served the position of Associate Professor of Forestry (Agroforestry) at the College of Forestry, Ranichauri of VCSG UUHF. Before joining this university, Dr. Bijalwan held the position of Assistant Professor (HRD Scale, equivalent to Associate Professor as in IIT/IIM) at the esteemed Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, located in Bhopal, MP, India. Prior to that, he served as Assistant Professor at the College of Forestry & Environment, Allahabad Agricultural Institute-Deemed University, in Allahabad (now Prayagraj), UP, India. He has worked in the field of forestry and agroforestry for different parts of tropical, sub-tropical and temperate regions of the country.

Dr. Bijalwan has served as Principal Investigator/Project Coordinator of a special project of Rs. 12.18 crore implemented by MPVS for employment generation through cultivation of Medicinal and Aromatic plants for the Western Himalayan community in Tehri Garhwal of Uttarakhand, India. Also, he has handled many research and extension Projects with a capacity of PI and Co-PI.

Dr. Bijalwan has diverse academic and research experience in forestry, agroforestry and natural resource management including biomass, carbon estimation and agro-biodiversity in forest and agroforestry systems of tropical to Himalayan regions of India. He has also worked on plantation assessment w.r.t. survival, quality, growth pattern, influence of microclimate on plant growth and their monitoring and evaluation in different parts of tropical, sub-tropical and temperate regions of the country and also have good exposure of agroforestry systems in country and overseas. He has worked on analysing and assessment of potential and possibility of various well-established agroforestry and farm forestry systems connecting to numerous agroforestry combinations and systems such as agri-silviculture system, agri-horti system, agri-horti-sivi system etc and also documented their case studies. Presently he is working in agroforestry management, productivity and assessment of biomass and carbon in agroforestry systems with an integrated theme of livelihood promotion linking to Biodiversity (agro-biodiversity), Ecosystem Services in Agroforestry systems connecting to Climate Change. He is in the Editorial board of many national and International Journals and Life member of numerous Scientific and Professional societies. He has selected for faculty positions in various State Government Universities and Institutions and also selected for Master’s programme in two prestigious Universities abroad.

Dr. Bijalwan has published around 85 research papers and 65 scientific articles in the area of Forestry, Agroforestry, Biodiversity and natural resource management. He has also written three books and supervised 08 Doctoral, 23 Master’s and M. Phil Students.
